From Page to Stage – The construction of an entire classical tutu, bodice, and skirt.
SEPT 22,23,24 - 2018 3:00 central standard time.
3 days – 2 hours per day
3 day Bodice and Tutu course. Travis will take you through the entire process of creating a full costume from patterning to finishing. He will be creating an elegant Paquita costume. For those that have taken patterning with Halsey Onstage, or are familiar with using a body block, we will begin with dancers measurements, create the block, and then create a custom bodice pattern with an inserted blouse upper.
We will go step by step through the bodice cutting, boning, flat lining, assembly, closures, and finish work. We will cover multiple techniques such as: fold-backs, piping within seams, appliqué and more.
Following the bodice we will begin cutting and assembling the panty, cutting the tutu netting, ombré dye the netting, and different ways to ruffle, pleat and gather your net.
After the netting is all dyed and gathered we will cover connecting it all to the panty. Cover how to steam and tack the layers together. Travis combines multiple approaches to hand tacking, and also adds in his own twists. Creating efficient, long lasting and a great shape.
We will apply a lace top plate to the tutu. Following the lace top plate we will connect the tutu to the bodice.
With this course you will get a PDF tutu panty pattern in the size of your choice. You will also get a copy of the pattern that Travis generates in the class.
Finally you will get a link to re-watch the recording at any time, as often as you like.
